I have been thinking about blogging for several years now. According to the Myers-Briggs personality tests, I am an INFP. The “I” stands for introvert, which means that I process ideas internally rather than by talking them out. Perhaps that is why I enjoy writing so much, a necessary prerequisite for blogging.
I also tend to be fiercely protective of my privacy, a characteristic which may not fit so well with blogging. The other day I was writing in my journal when I was approached by a two women in a coffee shop. As we chatted, I was aware that my journal lay open on the table. My arm slowly inched over the written page to cover the words in case anyone glanced down at it. What was it that I did not want them to read? Nothing, really. I could easily have described to them exactly what I had written, but letting another person look upon the written words themselves? Never.
Besides my worry that someone would actually read my blog, I worried that no one would. Would anyone be interested? A few weeks ago, I was at a party with some people from our church. I was catching up with a former church member, who is now a sixth grade teacher in the Chicago area. I told her about the classes I was finishing up for the semester and about my exciting new job teaching preschool. I explained that although I have quite a bit of experience with preschool children, teaching in this new setting will very different from anything I have done before. She shared my enthusiasm about the job and said, “You really should blog it. If you do, I would read it.” That’s all I needed. One blog. One reader….. K-Lo, I hope you were serious!
I AM READING IT!!! I have to catch up–I just found it! so excited! I just bookmarked it!
