Great thoughts to ponder this day as I am straightening up my house at a snails pace, enjoying the quiet sounds of our day to day routine.

Glad to see you blogging again! I read this poem very quickly while also updating Faceook and using a blunt file to remove dirt from under my fingernails. I'm going to reinstate the In the Garden bookmark--don't let me down. --d

Thank you for sharing this. I read it slowly several times now, letting the words and the images roll over my ragged harried mind.

I like to find a square of light in the morning while I sip my tea and cream and follow fanciful thoughts for a few quiet moments before practical duties claim my attention.

My grandfather planted 'pole beans'. He would stand long poles in a circle, stick them in the ground and tie them at the top to keep them together. He planted the beans at the base of the poles. The poles were for the beans to run up. I never played inside one but it sounds like fun. But this sounds like a butterbean tent.

I'm so glad you like it. I just used a Border's gift card to order two of her books, so I'll post more from her, I'm sure. Of course, you are welcome to borrow them, too. I just read that one of her children has autism. I'm sure that experience enriches her writing.

I came back here today because I am rethinking what I do for "spelling." The workbook (list-oriented) we are using is driving me nuts. I think I am going to pursue something more along the lines of what you describe above. Thanks again for the post...

love to read about great project work :^)

your observation about the librarian and how things *could* have gone a different way is so right.

Thanks for the comment. I'm so glad you liked it! Really, the more I think about it, the more it seems to me that the project approach is more about mindset than method. It's a way of living- just acting on your natural curiosity. That's why it is so great for young children. They can master "academics" later, but infecting them with that investigative mindset can make a difference in the way they approach learning for a lifetime.
